Everyday I am reminded of how important it is that little Black girls have access to images that affirm them as often as possible. Simply seeing a doll or book character with brown skin and kinky hair could provide an important mirror.
The princess characters that pervade children's products remain non-diverse, so Erin Rogers Pickerings reimagined prints featuring little black girls are especially important. She's recreated many of the images we're often introduced to from historical figures like Cleopatra and Joan of Arc to classic storybook characters like Rapunzel and Snow White.
The prints are beautiful and affordable. Buy here.
