The topic #UnconventinalBlackBeauty began on Twitter by @HIFTBABG and @lioneesssssss to showcase black beauties with features not typically deemed desirable or attractive. As with most discussions surrounding black female empowerment or body positivity, there were naysayers decrying the need for such a trending topic or expressing confusion about what defines "unconventional black beauty."
Luckily, for them and all of us, there were users ready to set the record straight about the importance of the issue.
basically if you/your features are uplifted as standard beauty, leave space for others in the #UnconventionalBlackBeauty tag— feminist (@onlythefrench) June 3, 2015
