Spelman College Cuts All Ties With Bill Cosby

On Friday, Spelman College announced that it is ending its endowed professorship funded by Bill Cosby and his wife, Camille Cosby.

As of now, 46 women have publicly accused Cosby of rape or sexual assault. Spelman's announcement comes one week after The New York Times obtained a copy of a deposition in which Cosby admitted he gave drugs to women before having sex with them. Spelman initially suspended the endowed professorship in December 2014.
In a statement on Friday, a spokeswoman for Spelman told The Associated Press, “The William and Camille Olivia Hanks Cosby Endowed Professorship at Spelman College has been discontinued.” The college also announced that "related funds" have been returned to the Clara Elizabeth Jackson Carter Foundation, an organization established by Camille Cosby.

The couple donated $20 million dollars to Spelman in 1988.  At the time this was the largest single donation to a Historically Black College and University. Their two daughters, Erika and Evin, attended the college.
