Morgan Freeman's Granddaughter Was Murdered By Her Ex-Boyfriend In NYC

Morgan Freeman's granddaughter, E’Dena Hines, was stabbed to death in Manhattan on Sunday morning. Law enforcement and witnesses describe the killing as an “exorcism.”

Authorities report that Hines was stabbed 16 times by her boyfriend, Lamar Davenport. According to witness George Hudacko, Davenport yelled out “Get out, devils! I cast you out, devils! In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out!” during the attack.
Police say Davenport was in a drug-induced psychosis while he attacked Hines. He was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital for a psychological evaluation. Police have now arrested Lamar Davenport and charged him with second-degree murder.

Hines was a graduate of NYU’s Graduate Acting Program and appeared “A Raisin in the Sun” on Broadway in 2012. After leaving New York to teach in Memphis, TN, Hines had returned to co-star in the indie film “Landing Up.’’

Freeman released a statement saying “The world will never know her artistry and talent and how much she had to offer. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”

Hines was the granddaughter of Freeman’s first wife.
