Oprah Winfrey is a phenomenal actress whose talents are underused.

Deadline reports on Monday that she will star in the HBO Films adaption of the bestselling book "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks."

Winfrey will executive produce the film and narrate as the protagonist's daughter, Deborah Lacks. The film and book chronicle the life of the woman whose cells were used to create the first immortal cell line.  Lacks received no compensation for her contribution to the medical breakthrough and died with no money.

George C. Wolfe will direct. Author Rebecca Skloot will co-produce the film. Henrietta Lacks’ sons Zakariyya Rahman and David Lacks, Jr. and granddaughter Jeri Lacksare will serve as consultants on the HBO project.

No premiere date has been set, but filming begins this summer.
