Serena Williams is finished in her quest to defend her Olympic gold medal at the Games in Rio.

Williams is the no. 1 seed at the Games and lost in the third round on Tuesday to Elina Svitolina of Ukraine 6-4, 6-3 in an upset. This comes only days after she and sister Venus were ousted in the first round of the doubles competition. The elder Williams sister is reportedly suffering from an illness. That was the first loss for the women after going 15-0 in Olympic competition.

No tennis player has ever won two Olympic gold medals, but Serena and Venus Williams have a stellar Olympic record. Serena claimed two gold medals at the 2012 London Olympics. Together, Venus and Serena, have won two additional golds in doubles in 2000 and 2008.
