I was in the shower, daydreaming as usually, and I start imagining things. Real things, fictitious things. Sad and happy things. Also there were people there staring at us and taking photographs, but they kept a distance. They were cheering us on! It turns out everyone was happy to see us. No matter the race or the age. I loved how the older women reacted. I don't see disability when I see her. I see a world of potentials. I see power and strength. She inspires me daily, that's no exaggeration. There's just something about her presence, story, and sense of humor that I feel like the world should know about. She's beautiful, confident, and even with her prosthetic leg, she can't be stopped. She travels the world alone and brings her magic with her wherever she goes. I met her when I hosted a pop up shop downtown in Manhattan. I didn't notice her leg at first, I noticed her beauty. She showed up alone to a popup shop to purchase a headwrap, and I decided to keep in touch with her. She was later featured as \"The Face of Fanm Djanm\" for\u0026nbsp;\u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/www.fanmdjanm.com\/\"\u003E\u003Cb\u003EFanm Djanm\u003C\/b\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E, a lifestyle brand I created that celebrates strong women everywhere through African inspired headwraps. Cacsmy's role in my super hero should show that her disability does not hold her back, but makes her stronger. She is a super hero in my eyes, and that's why she's there. The photographs were taken in the homes where the women grew up. Each was asked to wear what they would wear to a business interview. They then posed in front of a office backdrop. The women were asked to perform a mock interview and that's when Beal captured their photographs. Each photo is accompanied by a personal statement. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Ca name='more'\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBeal told the NYTimes:\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cblockquote class=\"tr_bq\"\u003EI am interested in the stories of the invisible, the stories we haven’t heard yet. The new series, “Am I What You’re Looking For?,” explores those new stories, those individuals that don’t necessarily get a chance to vocalize all of their feelings, and all of their emotions, and what they’re going through. The work that I create does not necessarily answer questions; the work that I create poses questions, “What if?” What if my subjects Sabrina and Katrina (Slide 2) came into your office space and this is how they looked? What if Jayia wore her dress that is white and you saw the tattoo on her hand? How would you deal with that? Knowing that you may be making a decision based on how she looks and not what’s on her résumé.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EMost of my work does just that, it poses those questions.
