'Unsung Hollywood’ Kicks Off New Season with ‘A Different World’

TV One's Unsung will soon continue its film and television based spinoff with an episode dedicated to A Different World. Unsung Hollywood: A Different World will offer in-depth behind-the-scenes look at the stars and the show we all love.

The new season begins on Wednesday, February 11. The show debuted in 1987 and followed Lisa Bonet’s Cosby Show character Denise Huxtable and her diverse group of friends as they experienced life at the fictitious HBCU, Hillman College (Cliff and Claire’s alma mater).
A Different World was a pioneer in its approach to talking about social issues that affect young people. Throughout its 6 seasons,  the series highlighted issues such as HIV/AIDS, domestic abuse, hazing, racism, and the LA riots. Like the Cosby Show it was a lauching pad for the careers of great Black actors and actresses like Jada Pinkett-Smith, Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Cree Summer, Darryl M. Bell, Dawnn Lewis, and Sinbad.

The vision of Debbie Allen was integral to the success of the show. Can't wait to check this out.
