Victims Identified in Charleston Church Mass Shooting

Six women and three men were killed in Charleston, South Carolina at Emanuel AME Church during a prayer meeting in a brutal massacre.

Cynthia Hurd, 54, a 31 year veteran librarian at the Charleston County Public Library.

“Cynthia was a tireless servant of the community who spent her life helping residents, making sure they had every opportunity for an education and personal growth,” the Charleston County Public Library said in a statement.

Tywanza Sanders, 26, a graduate from Allen University in Columbia's Division of Business Administration in 2014.

Tessa Spencer, a reporter and anchor for local ABCNews4 told BuzzFeed News that Sanders tried to save a family member: “They said he jumped in front of his aunt or grandmother.”

Myra Thompson, 59, the wife reverend Anthony Thomspon, the Vicar at Holy Trinity REC.

Ethel Lee Lance, 70, is among the victims, her daughter tells ABC news.
“I’m lost, I’m lost,” her grandson Jon Quil Lance told the Post and Courier as he waited outside the trauma center of Medical University Hospital, where the victims were being treated. He said his granny was “the heart of the family.”
