Tune into Turner Classic Movies for a Month of Films Featuring Black Women Directors


Turner Classic Movies has partnered with Women in Film Los Angeles in curating a full month of programing featuring movies directed by women to raise "the awareness of the history of women working behind the camera." Several films by Black women will be screened throughout the series.

Tune in Wednesday, October 13 for Euzhan Palcy's "A Dry White Season." The channel will also broadcast an entire night of independent films by black female directors on Thursday, October 22. The films airing are Kathleen Collins' "Losing Ground," Juile Dash's "Daughters of the Dust," Leslie Harris' "Just Another Girl on the I.R.T." and Ava DuVernay's "Middle of Nowhere."
African-American Independents night will be co-hosted by pioneering director Julie Dash, who will discuss her award-winning film "Daughters of the Dust."
