Venus Williams Scores Her Biggest Tennis Win in Five Years

Venus Williams, 35, showed the world she is still a formidable tennis player after winning the Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open in Wuhan, China on Saturday, WTA News reports.

Williams conquered Garbiñe Muguruza, the No.5 seed, in straight sets. This marks the 47th Women's Tennis Association (WTA) title of her career. The seven-time Grand Slam champion will move from No. 24 to No. 14 in the WTA rankings.

Williams has battled illness and injury in the five years since her last title win in February 2010.

"Congratulations Garbiñe for making the final," Williams said. "I know you had a tough match yesterday - it's not easy when you don't play your best, and I probably didn't have a chance if you felt well!"
