The Women of Team USA Sweep an Olympic Track and Field Event for the First Time

Brianna Rollins, Nia Ali, and Kristi Castlin swept the 100-meter hurdles event at the Rio Olympics. The women were expected to bring home all three medals in the event and they triumphed.

Their wins are an unprecedented sweep for Team USA.

Brianna Rollins won in 12.48 seconds on Wednesday night at Olympic Stadium.  Nia Ali took silver with a time of 12.59 and Kristi Castlin took bronze in 12.61.



Castlin came in a mere .02 seconds ahead of Cindy Ofili of Great Britain.

Rollins will celebrate her 25th birthday on August 18. Her first Olympic gold medal is a great way to celebrate.

This is the time the women of Team USA have swept the podium at a track and field event in Olympic history.
