Denzel Washington and Anika Noni Rose Star in "A Raisin in the Sun" on Broadway

The latest Broadway adaptation of Lorraine Hansberry's "A Raisin in the Sun" will officially open at the Barrymore theater on April 23.

The show is currently in previews.

Denzel Washington stars as Walter Lee Younger, with Sophie Okenedo as his wife, Ruth, and Anika Noni Rose as his sister Beneatha. LaTanya Richardson Jackson (Sam's wife) stepped in to play Lena ("mama") after 78-year-old Diahann Carroll determined the Broadway schedule to be to grueling.
