Watch the Trailer for New Indie Film 'Queen of Glory'

Nana Mensah is a Ghanaian-American actress based in New York. Tired with the stereotypical film roles offered to Black women by mainstream Hollywood, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

Self-described as "the Black Miranda July," Mensah wrote, produced, directed, and stars in the new independent feature film, Queen of Glory. The film centers on New Yorker Sarah Obeng (played by Mensah), a PhD candidate who is quitting her dissertation research to follow her married lover to Ohio when her mother dies suddenly, willing her a Christian bookstore in the Bronx. The dark comedy an honest look at a complex Black female character and the people in her life, which we don't often get to see portrayed through cinema.
