Director Ava DuVernay put rumors to rest when she revealed that she will not be directing the upcoming Marvel film Black Panther. The "Selma" director considered the opportunity, but later passed on it.
“I'm not signing on to direct Black Panther,” DuVernay told Essence. “I think I’ll just say we had different ideas about what the story would be. Marvel has a certain way of doing things and I think they’re fantastic and a lot of people love what they do. I loved that they reached out to me.”
Black Panther will be Marvel's first Black superhero to come to the big screen, but we'll have to wait to see who will be directing the film starring Chadwick Boseman.
