1. Afro Punk Fest
Dates: August 21-23, 2015
Location: Brooklyn, NY

AFROPUNK 2015 is returning to Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park, also known as City Park, for a weekend of live music, vibrant art and good vibes on August 22nd and 23rd. Described by the New York Times as “the most multicultural festival in the US,” the word AFROPUNK itself has become synonymous with open­minded, non­conforming and unconventional, placing the institution at the epicenter of urban culture inspired by alternative music.



2. Black Girls CODE NY x Connect with STEM - WOC in STEM Career Panel & School Readiness Supply Giveaway
Date: Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Location: Brooklyn, NY

Black Girls CODE and Connect with STEM have partnered together to bring a stellar panel of women of color in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) professionals to Brooklyn! This career panel will help young tech divas learn about careers in the science space and hear from women forging a path of excellence in both their careers and lives.

Our host for the event, the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President, Eric L Adams, Target, Kings Plaza and the YWCA of Brooklyn will also lead a School Readiness Supply Giveaway (supplies limited) following the panel.


3. Black Sisters United Wellness Summit - Rhode Island
Date: Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Location: Providence, RI

Please join National Coalition of 100 Black Women-Rhode Island Chapter (NCBW), March of Dimes, Office of Minority Health at Rhode Island Department of Health and the #300 Women of Rhode Island for Black Sisters United Wellness Summit: “Promoting Healthy Habits Before, During, and After Pregnancy”. This health summit will take place on August 22, 2015 from 10:00 am- 1:00 pm at the Marriott hotel (1 Orms Street) with Keynote Dr. Tricia Rose.

5. Black August: Women in the Vanguard of the Black Liberation Movement
Date: Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Location: Atlanta, GA

The Malcolm X Grassroots Movement(MXGM) in collaboration with the Auburn Avenue Research Library and Hammonds House Museum, will host Black August, Women in the Vanguard of the Black Liberation Movement. In recognition of Black August, A panel will explore the historical and contemporary contributions of women in the post-Civil Rights Black Liberation Movement.
