Lena Waithe Lands Showtime Pilot Order For New Coming-Of-Age Drama

Lena Waithe, multitalented writer, director, and producer, known for her production work on "Dear White People" and YouTube webseries "Twenties" will write and executive produce a new, Black coming-of-age drama for Showtime.

The drama, which focuses on a young Black male dealing with the challenges and triumphs of growing up in Chicago, will be written by Waithe. She will also executive produce along with Common.

“Lena Waithe is an extremely fresh, talented young writer with a unique voice and a deeply thoughtful perspective into the world where she grew up. I immediately gravitated to her script, which is emotional, funny, tragic and relevant, all at once. And we are so fortunate to have artist and visionary Common for his first producing project in scripted television," said Showtime producer David Nevins.

We're looking forward to see what comes from this!
